Without going back over all the aspects of environmental control in the steel industry, which are the subject of other articles (see, in particular, those by J. Raguin and ), energy requirements and the savings that can be made have a direct impact on an important subject i.e. the production of carbon dioxide CO 2 , a subject of well-known controversy but for which we will limit ourselves to the effect of each of the steel production processes, their energy consumption and the possible savings on this CO 2 production.
