7. Developments in the treatment of leach solutions

Given the complexity of the leach solution treatment operations described above, for the selective recovery of indium in the presence of numerous impurities (Zn, Fe, Pb, Cu, As, Sb, Sn, Tl, Ga, Ge...), current approaches increasingly favor the use of solvent extraction and ion-exchange resin separation techniques, which are better suited to dilute solutions (low metal concentration) and offer greater selectivity.

7.1 Selective indium extraction using organic solvents

The main solvents used in indium liquid-liquid extraction are organic compounds derived from phosphorus chemistry. They are effective in concentration ranges above 500 mg/L. Often indium and impurities are co-extracted, but selective re-extraction ensures process selectivity.
