3. Conclusion

The technology of rolling mills themselves is now evolving only marginally. Rolling mills, however, will continue to evolve to improve productivity and quality:

• by adapting to the trend toward increasing the cross-section and weight of semi-finished products;

• by incorporating continuous advances in automation and information technology;

• by using increasingly effective quality control methods in the rolling line.
