Rolling stand

Basic component of a rolling mill. It is equipped with two (or even three) grooved cylinders that reduce the cross-section of the rolled product.

Grooves

Shapes machined into the two cylinders through which the rolled product passes to reduce its cross-section.

Cylinders; Rolls

Rolling tools, which generally work in pairs, rotating in opposite directions. They are mounted in supports called rolling cages.

Rolling descent (calibration diagram); Pass design

Document defining the sequence of grooves (and their settings) used on the different cages of a rolling mill to obtain the various finished products from the semi-finished product.
