4. Conclusion
Rolling tools (rollers) have hardly changed since the late 2000s. The use of carbide rollers remains limited to a few applications, for rolled diameters of less than 40 mm (wire train finishing blocks, RSB blocks).
The use of finite element calculation codes continues to be developed to assist in defining calibrations and, above all, in understanding the mechanisms that cause defects to appear during rolling.
The development of online measurement methods (diameter and surface) should also continue, enabling faster identification of surface and shape defects on both blooming mills and finishing mills.
