3. Defects in rolled products
Surface defects observed on rolled products can be classified into three main categories:
defects due to incorrect adjustment of the train;
defects appearing during rolling;
defects originating from the ingots.
These defects may be combined on the same ingot. To prevent them from being transferred to the wire drawing mill, the billets are inspected and repaired during finishing.
