 INTRODUCTION

This process, also known as parkerization, can only be applied by immersion. The resulting deposit is highly adherent, highly resistant to atmospheric corrosion, and provides a remarkable bonding base for specific anticorrosive finishes.

The mechanisms and characteristics of phosphating are described in detail in the treatise Metallic Materials.
