7. Coating rehabilitation

Following the various pipeline inspection campaigns, coating rehabilitation operations are performed, either on an ad hoc basis to rectify a particular defect, or over longer lengths, sometimes up to several kilometres. Careful selection of the rehabilitation coating is essential, because not only must it allow optimal protection against corrosion, but it must also be suitable for application under the structure’s current conditions.

It is necessary to consider compatibility between the existing coating and the rehabilitation coating. It is therefore essential for the pipeline network operator to know the type of product already in place so that they can plan ahead for selection of the rehabilitation system.
