Conclusion

Hot-dip galvanizing of finished products differs from other processes in the following ways:

• a metallic coating, strongly bonded to its substrate by phases that form between the liquid zinc and the steel when hot;

• total covering of parts after manufacture, so that tubular parts are also protected from corrosion on the inside;

• long-lasting protection thanks to over a century's experience and standards (NF EN ISO 1461 in particular).

Plants are now well equipped to recover and recycle their effluents. Strict environmental regulations have been introduced in recent years, placing all galvanizing plants under surveillance.
