Overview
ABSTRACT
A large range of impregnation methods are currently used in the composite and technical textile fields. Some of these present drawbacks, such as the use of solvents, water, or an inhomogeneous distribution of the impregnated materials. This article describes, in particular, the dry impregnation technology (D-Preg) of the Fibroline company, which allows the dry impregnation of any powder in any type of non-conductive porous material (foams, papers, textiles), including felts and textile reinforcements. We describe the principles of this innovative technology, the main development steps leading to an industrial process, including the main constraints and technical barriers to overcome, and some of the applications of the Fibroline process.
