4. Conclusion

Electrospinning has expanded rapidly over the last 20 years, mainly due to its applications and the industrialization of production methods. Studies have shown that a wide range of materials can be used to produce nanofibers. These include biopolymers, synthetic polymers, composites and colloidal particles. Whether during electrospinning or in post-treatment, new functionalities/properties can be added to electrospun membranes, enabling a wide range of applications. Their specific properties, in particular their high porosity and high specific surface area, enable them to be used in a wide range of high value-added fields. What's more, the hybrid nature of both fibers and membranes means that new properties can be added, resulting in fibers with multiple functionalities.
