Anorthite

Calcium feldspar, an aluminum and calcium silicate CaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 . In ceramics, it is a newly formed phase, often associated with gehlenite, which forms when formulations containing high levels of calcium are fired, such as in earthenware and terracotta. It is also a rock that can be used as a raw material in certain earthenware or enamel formulations.
