3. What checks should be carried out before loading?

Before the shipment can be loaded into or onto the vehicle, the following checks must be carried out:

  • good condition of the load (correct marking and labelling, absence of product leaks or drips, etc.);

  • identification and good condition of the load already in the vehicle and compatibility with the shipment to be loaded (compliance with mixed loading rules and precautions to be taken with foodstuffs);

  • good condition of the vehicle and suitability for the vehicle ordered or chosen, presence of lashings suitable for the load, compliance with the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) after loading;

  • presence of on-board equipment and documents required by ADR § 8.1.4 and 8.1.5.
