2. Your substance has never been registered

Please note: since the end of the last registration deadline for the transitional period (May 30, 2018), no substance benefits from the transitional regime. So, if your substance was pre-registered, it is no longer of any use.

What's more, the three-year average tonnage calculation introduced during the transitional period no longer applies either. You are obliged to register as soon as you exceed one tonne per calendar year.

In this case, your various steps to be able to manufacture/import more than one tonne per calendar year are as follows.

• Submit an inquiry to ECHA. In return, ECHA will tell you whether or not the substance has already been registered (see How to prepare and submit an inquiry (type 3) under REACH?
