1. When do you need to update your safety data sheets for substances?

The main regulation governing the editing and distribution of SDSs is REACH, regardless of whether your substance is eligible for registration.

Rules for publishing and distributing SDSs

The articles of REACH dealing specifically with SDS are articles 31 to 36 (Title IV: Information within the supply chain).

You are obliged to update your SDSs without delay (according to the wording of article 31.9 of the REACH regulation) in the cases listed in this article.
