2. Are paper and electronic MSDSs archived in the same way?

A set of common rules applies to the archiving of SDSs on paper or electronic media (without any evidential value). These rules, and the associated questions/points, are as follows:

  • make an inventory of substances subject to SDSs, identifying suppliers and the authenticity of SDSs. Are they up to date? Do you have the attached exposure scenarios?

  • ensure the integrity of the MSDSs received, i.e. that they can be kept intact and preserved from any alteration, modification or destruction. In other words, you must ensure that the archive is identical or faithful to the original;

  • Store your MSDSs in good physical conditions and secure locations to ensure they are legible in the medium and long term;
