2. Review input elements

Design project inputs should be reviewed prior to engaging in design activities by those directly involved in those activities, to ensure that:

  • essential requirements are defined, complete, unambiguous and not contradictory;

  • the knowledge and experience available within the company enable these requirements to be met by solutions that are known and mastered, or accessible through a research or development effort compatible with the timescales and costs allocated to the project.

Input elements are globally defined at the start of the design project. They concern :

  • functional and performance characteristics of the product or service, as well as the criteria by which the customer is likely to evaluate it and influence his level...
