Design project inputs should be reviewed prior to engaging in design activities by those directly involved in those activities, to ensure that:
essential requirements are defined, complete, unambiguous and not contradictory;
the knowledge and experience available within the company enable these requirements to be met by solutions that are known and mastered, or accessible through a research or development effort compatible with the timescales and costs allocated to the project.
