5. How to carry out an FMECA study?

  • List the failure modes for each step or function. Be careful not to estimate the effects once the first failure mode has been found.

  • Describe the effects (internal and external). This estimate will be used to assess the severity of failure modes.

  • Discuss potential causes.

  • List means of prevention and/or detection (if any).
