INTRODUCTION
If this is the first time you've had to implement FMECA in your company, whether as a result of a customer request or an internal initiative, and you'd like to get to grips with the ins and outs of the method before taking the plunge.
This fact sheet on the FMEA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis) tool provides an understanding of the main elements involved in deploying the method, interpreting it and implementing corrective, preventive or improvement actions as output from the exercise.
Available in three versions (FMEA process, product or manufacturing means), the tool will enable you to critically assess your processes, production tools or product functions before their final use. It is also possible to combine these three elements into a "system" concept (a combination of all three elements). It's a tool for preventing difficulties or defects, and is carried out at a very early stage in projects, by multi-disciplinary and multi-level teams.
