4. How to prevent the risk of accidental pollution at an ICPE?

To prevent the risk of accidental pollution at your facility, regardless of its declaration status, there are a number of safety measures to be taken, depending on your activities. However, even if the sections below are only mandatory for facilities subject to authorization, it is advisable to apply these tips to all facilities in order to reduce the risk of accidental pollution as much as possible. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the most frequent incidents:

  • tank overflows ;

  • leaks from pipes or storage areas ;

  • pollution via water used to extinguish a fire;

  • explosions ;

  • atmospheric dispersion of hazardous products.
