Monitoring requirements vary according to the regime applicable to your plant.
Your plant is not classified, or is subject to declaration or registration: there is no legal obligation to do so, but it is advisable to monitor your discharges in order to detect as quickly as possible any anomaly that could pose a danger to your plant, the environment or others.
Your plant is classified under the authorization regime: you can carry out periodic monitoring (by an organization approved or empowered by the Ministry or the Prefect), as well as self-monitoring. Self-monitoring is an additional procedure whereby the operator continually checks that the discharge ELVs prescribed for your facility are being complied with. The conditions for self-monitoring are laid down in your prefectoral authorization order....
