4. Installation
The notion of "installation" was introduced by the 1976 law on classified installations and the associated ICPE nomenclature.
As soon as an industrial activity is covered and classified by the nomenclature of classified installations, it is considered an "installation" within the meaning of ICPE legislation. Regulatory constraints may be imposed depending on its classification (declaration, registration or authorization).
It is possible for a factory or industrial establishment to have several activities covered by the nomenclature of classified installations. For example, a single industrial facility may include several installations.
