What's the difference between the terms "external hazard" and "external risk"?
The notion of (external) hazard is concerned with the existence of a situation that can cause damage to human health and/or the environment, while the notion of (external) risk is concerned with the probability of the hazard occurring, the kinetics of the phenomenon and its intensity/severity.
What action can be taken following an external risk analysis?
Knowledge of external risks enables :
qualify or quantify the risk;
consider the technical measures or devices to be put in place, depending on the extent of the risks identified.
