Environmental inspectors have the right to visit facilities under their supervision. This right of inspection applies equally to classified facilities subject to authorization, registration or declaration.

1.1 Priority facilities for inspection

The Ministry of the Environment and the inspection services for classified facilities divide authorized establishments into three categories according to their risks:

  • Priority plants" include Seveso plants that are inspected at least once a year.

  • High-stakes establishments", which are inspected at least once every three years, and other establishments, which are inspected at least once every ten years.
