1. Identify substances and characterize hazards

To carry out a health risk assessment, you need to :

  • identify all substances likely to be emitted by the site (quantify them where possible);

  • select potentially dangerous chemical substances, i.e. those for which toxicity has been demonstrated;

  • identify the different types of population in the vicinity of the site (identification of potential targets).

The first step is to identify all the substances likely to be emitted by the site. The aim is to obtain the most exhaustive qualitative (and quantitative where possible) inventory possible.
