1. Understanding the challenges of FMECA
When it comes to business risk, there are several possible scenarios:
ideal case: the risk is known and controlled by preventive procedures and measures;
borderline case: the risk is often controlled, with situations that escape us;
another borderline case: the risk is only controlled for serious cases;
critical case: the risk is unknown, no measures are in place to deal with it.
The aim of FMECA is to use a factual, exhaustive approach to move towards an ideal risk control situation.
