2. When to measure and when to control?

The main industrial sectors concerned by standards control are: furniture, biotechnology, wood, paper, printing, construction, electrical engineering, electronics, pressure equipment, communications, aeronautics, food, textiles, metallurgy, defense, health, extractive, toys, metrology, plastics, naval, military, mechanical, electrical and chemicals.

Go to the AFNOR website, type in your product category and you'll find a short or long list of standards that apply to you. Not all of them deal with metrology, but they will give you a good idea of the regulations in force for your product. Texts relating to quality inform you of the legal inspection obligations, i.e. the minimum inspection or precision and type of measurements you need to carry out.
