Elements of the external environment (EME)

All entities identified as external to the product are referred to as elements of the external environment (EME).

Decision-maker

Person mandated to make decisions relating to a "value analysis (VA)" or "functional analysis (FA)" action; they must be made known and applied.

Constraint

Limiting the freedom of the designer-director.
