4. Identify other assembly functions

Your assembly is likely to serve subtle functions, compensating for or reinforcing certain characteristics of your substrates.

4.1 Assembly set with external material input

This joint or adhesive (glue or double-sided) is a good way of fulfilling these functions.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of examples of functions to be performed:

  • guarantee the anti-corrosion function of your assembly: substrates can interact with each other and corrode over time;

  • distribute stress evenly to prevent breakage of fragile substrates;

  • avoid surface degradation or embrittlement of substrates: friction between substrates or point stresses...
