6. Glossary

Substrate

By definition, a substrate is what serves as the base or infrastructure for something. In the case of assemblies, we take two substrates of different or identical nature, and possibly an intermediate material called filler material.

Input material

In assemblies, it represents the material between the two substrates. Depending on the assembly technology and the functions to be performed, this material is called adhesive, glue, welding rod, joint, assembly kit...

Assembly set

It represents the residual gap between the two substrates after assembly, whether or not a filler material is used. It is expressed in meters or millimeters (m or mm).
