INTRODUCTION
For a company developing an innovation strategy, the starting point of the process is to ask itself this fundamental question: what is the purpose of the products and/or services it wishes to sell to customers?
The answer lies in a process of reflection leading to the establishment of a "high-level functional definition" (HLFD). The functional definition (FD) – and the associated methodology – are well known in AVF (functional value analysis), and more generally in project management. However, high-level functional definition is an approach extended to the various product lines and/or services provided, and even to the company itself.
