2.1 Task chronology and communication
MS Project 2010 borrows this simplified task representation from MS Visio.
The timeline displays tasks and milestones selected by the planner on a graduated ruler; this ruler can be displayed above the main display, e.g. the Gantt chart, or full-screen. In both cases, this display highlights the selected tasks.
Open the project and make sure the Gantt chart is displayed.
Select the [Display] tab of the ribbon. In the [Split display] zone, check the [Timeline] box. The timeline is graduated from month to month. If today's date falls within the chronology display period, it appears as Today.
