1. Understanding value analysis

Value analysis is a method that responds to the following considerations:

  • every product has a purpose only if it fulfills a function;

  • good design must be preceded by a functional analysis.

The more a product fulfills its function at the lowest cost, the greater its value.

As a result, value can be expressed as the quotient of function over cost.

The most effective design organization is an unbiased workgroup.
