What scams are circulating on the Internet?

Various types of fraud are possible on the Net.

  • Phishing: the technique consists of making the victim believe they are addressing a genuine website (bank, administration, etc.) in order to obtain personal information for fraudulent use.

  • Ad scams: for private-to-private transactions, opt for well-known sites (car theft during the test drive when the potential buyer is left alone behind the wheel).

  • Fake car sales: the potential seller of a vehicle, often recently moved abroad, places an attractive advert on the Net. Vigilance is always called for on the Internet, even if you think you're getting a good deal.
