3.1 Rethinking the very concept
The first line of thinking involves radically questioning the very concept of the product, service, or process. Is it really essential? If not, this may be an opportunity to do without it. If so, and particularly if its impacts are significant, this can be a good starting point for an eco-innovation project, since the potential environmental gains are considerable. Start with the needs and pain points of users and stakeholders, define use cases and contexts, and identify sources of environmental impact. Adopting a sustainability-focused approach means implementing practices and mindsets that will enable you to question your activities in an economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable way.
