Certain special cases are likely to complicate the determination of the inventor's remuneration, such as the creation of an invention within a foreign subsidiary, within the framework of a partnership with a third-party company, in collaboration with an intern, or even by an employee who has left the company (see Employee inventions: managing conflicts [FIC 1633] ).
