Conclusion: advantages, disadvantages and limitations of the USO approach

The "Uses, Symbols, Works" approach enables local projects to better respond to the needs of local populations. It also proves effective for project owners, from the initial phase through to completion and beyond.

At the design stage, it enriches or reformulates the request, making it more accurate and relevant. Issues of use are re-examined. Symbolic issues, often absent from programs or specifications, are identified and integrated. Conceived on this basis, the proposal is bound to be more convincing.

It also helps to differentiate the project. Insofar as the latter act precisely on the level of the imaginary, of the shareable dream, they can prove decisive at the moment of choice.
