Basically, these laws are to be understood as invariants in the evolution of any system designed by man. The laws assist the designer throughout his project by indicating the most logical directions of evolution with regard to the generic situations observed by the TRIZ founders. Knowing these evolutionary logics and interpreting them for a particular technical system therefore helps guide the designer towards the solution most consistent with these laws.
