2. Situating digital social networks in the research environment

The process of research is, of course, the elaboration of a scientific work, but it is also and at the same time the establishment of relationships, exchanges, the dissemination of one's scientific production and one's profile as a researcher, sharing and collaboration. These activities are part of the research itself, as well as the socialization and valorization of research (cf. J. Pierre, "La valorisation des réseaux sociaux dans la recherche scientifique").

All this in an environment where the need for visibility is becoming more pressing, and where the sharing, exploitation and communication of research data almost instantaneously within online communities ( e-science ) opens up research results to as many people as possible ( open science ) and widens the scope of potential collaborations ( cf.
