INTRODUCTION
Using a paid-for bibliographic reference management tool offers advantages in terms of optimizing the use of the database, using the references to write an article (or thesis) and eventually sharing it.
The aim of this sheet is not to go into the mechanics of bibliographic list management, but to provide tips and tricks for optimizing the management of large and/or shared databases within an entity (department, company, research laboratory, etc.).
The examples in this sheet refer to EndNote X9, but there are other software packages available for a fee, such as ReadCube, and for free, such as Zotero.
The bibliographic management tips you'll find in this sheet also apply to other bibliographic reference management tools.
