4. Define test supports
The test fixture is the object on which you will perform one or more of the tests presented in step 2. It can be a physical support or a model, and can have three main configurations:
a component: a suitable support for unit tests, in particular to validate reliability; Example: intake flap in an internal combustion engine.
a system: suitable support for integration tests, in particular for functional and dysfunctional characterization of a system; Example: air intake system in an internal combustion engine.
the complete product: suitable support for synthesis tests. Examples: complete engine, complete vehicle.
