 INTRODUCTION

Systems engineering is the set of activities involved in designing an optimal system to meet a need or an opportunity. It uses a system vision that encompasses multiple parameters, multi-disciplinary aspects, the entire life cycle, and contexts of use. It involves :

  • establish the system's functional and physical compatibility with requirements and constraints ;

  • balance the overall economics of the solution across all stages of the system's life cycle (as seen by the purchaser);

  • balance constraints, performance, costs, deadlines and risks (designer's view).
