Lifecycle analysis is a tool that identifies and quantifies the physical flows of materials and energy associated with human activities, throughout a product's lifecycle. It assesses potential impacts, then interprets the results obtained according to its initial objectives. Whether the product is a good, a service or even a process, all stages in the product life cycle are taken into account in the "cradle-to-grave" flow inventory: extraction of the energy and non-energy raw materials needed to manufacture the product, distribution, use, collection and disposal to end-of-life channels, as well as all transportation phases.
