3. Rely on existing lists and social bookmarking

Some specialized libraries or reference organizations may present on their sites selections of useful links in their sector. You should, however, check that the links are still valid. Lists of specialized links in a given sector can be identified by entering the following query, for example via Google: sector inurl : links OR inurl : resources OR inurl : sources.

Social bookmarking, which emerged in the mid-2000s, consists of storing bookmarks online and sharing them publicly or privately. Bookmarks can be home pages, articles, videos, etc., and each user indexes his or her own bookmarks via a tagging system. The Diigo and Pearltrees platforms were pioneers in this field, but there are other more recent solutions such as Wakelet, which is totally free.
