7. Mistakes to avoid

7.1 Patents and plant breeders' rights: don't choose the wrong protection!

The protection granted to plant products is not the result of a choice, but of the nature and characteristics of the product in question. The two types of protection are perfectly separate, and are not cumulative. What's more, since each is conditioned by its novelty, an incorrectly determined registration may result in the loss of all protection.
