6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't put words in bibliometric tools

Bibliometric tools can be used in a variety of situations. It is important to carefully analyze the choice of indicators each time, and not to force the system to say things it cannot. They are complementary and cannot be considered as absolute indices. The analysis is made relevant by a proper interpretation of their convergence.

What's more, free tools have limitations that need to be taken into account (the exhaustiveness of Google Scholar, for example, or the limitation of Scimago's impact to the Scopus corpus of documents). It is therefore always advisable to specify in the results which tool was used, in order to clarify its scope.
