 INTRODUCTION

The massive digitization of information, and the proliferation of user-generated content (UGC) circulating on the Internet, means that more than ever, the question of how to verify information needs to be asked. Is the information true? Who really issued it? Has it been altered and redistributed?

The knowledge worker can no longer dispense with asking these kinds of questions, and will have to do so all the more since the impact of information can be critical to decision-making.

It is therefore important to recall the essential principles of information validation, and to provide the means and tools to evaluate and qualify this information.

We'll remind you of the most important points to remember.

  • Verify the truth and accuracy of information whenever directly possible.

  • Qualify and validate intellectual authority.

  • Confirm objectivity and coverage.

  • Define data updating and temporality.
