1. The human element in prevention

Many professionals in the field of accident prevention consider the human factor to be one of the three possible causes of an accident. Indeed, when carrying out a cause tree analysis to determine the root causes of damage, it is common to hear talk of :

  • techniques ;

  • organizational ;

  • human.

Thus, we continue to hear that the vast majority of accidents are directly caused by human failure, an idea that became popular following certain studies dating back to the 1930s.
