Overview
ABSTRACT
This article deals with the modeling and metrology of storm overflows which are works of static or dynamic hydraulic regulation, necessary for a part of the maintenance of sewerage networks. With the emergence of sanitation and management systems, assessment tools for performances and monitoring are necessary as they allow in particular for verifying the activity of the devices or assessing their usefulness and function. After having dealt with the assessment needs that can be met by measurement and modeling tools, this article provides a detailed presentation of these two types of solutions (objectives and options as well as flow metering installations).

INTRODUCTION
The emergence of the concepts of wastewater systems and integrated management, taking into account the interactions between collection networks, treatment facilities and all discharges to receiving environments, has given rise to a need for tools to assess the performance and monitor the operation of wastewater systems.
Among all the structures present in these systems, storm overflows are static or dynamic hydraulic control structures that can partially manage the operation of a wastewater network. The reader will find a complete dossier on the diversity and role of these structures in the
The first paragraph of this dossier is devoted to performance evaluation and monitoring requirements, and explains how they can be met, by implementing measurement and modeling tools.
The second and third paragraphs describe how to implement these two types of solution, emphasizing their complementary nature, and in particular the need for models to be included in any flowmeter installation.
