1. Optical radiation

1.1 Definitions

Optical radiation is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths between X-rays and radio waves. They include ultraviolet, visible and infrared radiation. The Commission Internationale de l'Éclairage (CIE) has subdivided the spectrum of optical radiation into three wavelength ranges (λ) with specific biological significance (table 1 ).
